Zayed Center for Heritage and History
aims at grounding studies which are related to area studies of heritage
and history.
This will be accomplished by obtaining sources, classyfying, archiving
and preserving such sources.
The aim is to make the materials available for researchers in the field.
The Center's Library is in its infancy, yet it is growing, containing
a large collection of documents both published
and unpublished.

The Unpublished Documents

1.
25 Dosiers of Ottoman Documents containing 5000 documents dating back
form the last quarter of the nineteenth century until the beginning
of the First World War. They cover the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq. Their
subjects vary from Administration, Politics to Social lssues.
2. 25 Dosiers of Egyptian Documents
containing 1000 documents from the beginning of the nineteenth century
until the last quarter of it. These cover the Arabian Peninsula. Their
subjects deal with the wars of Muhammad Ali and his sons in the area
and the Egyptian Ottoman presence during that time.
3. 4 Dosiers of Russian Documents
containing more than 200 Documents, dating back to the first decade
of the twentieth century covering the Eastern Coast of the Gulf, the
south of the Red Sea and al-Hijaz. Their subjects deal with the importance
of the Haj Affairs to the Russian Empire and the importance of extending
Russian trade to the region.

The
Published Documents

1.
A collection of 150 books from
the Archive Editions. The collection is a copy of documents dating back
from the middle of the nineteenth century, covering the coastal areas
and lslands of the Gulf.
Zayed Center purchased all the documents about the UAE in particular and
the Gulf in general.
2. A collection of 70 documents of
the corresspondance of the British Foreign Office. between 1920-1934.
Zayed Center for Heritage and History is aiming at obtaining more documents
from archives of the countries with past presence or inter est in the
area, the UAE in particular and the Gulf in general.
