1- CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF URBAN HERITAGE.IN THE UNITED ARAB ... ..... ..... EMIRATES (UAE) 2000 - 2002
Urban heritage is under growing pressure in many areas of the world including UAE. Urban designers, architect and historians spare no effort in protecting, preservation and enhancement of urban heritage areas in order to increase their usefulness as well as the national identify of the state. In line with the objectives of ZCHH, the basic purpose of this research project is to develop solutions to the planning and management process of UAE historic sites. The general aims of this project are:

To develop solutions and find feasible means of heritage conservation, planning and management of historic areas and monuments in the UAE
·
To identify and describe the significance as well as the constraints on urban heritage of the UAE.
· To evaluate and analyze the current situations.
·
To promote appreciation and better understanding among the general public towards special consideration of heritage resource and values in modern development process.

· To propose a framework and formulate a strategic national heritage policy for UAE.


The research team consists of the following well-trained planners, architects and historian:
